photologgery

At a time when the news is filled with Big Brother, I would like to officially announce Bloggery's little sister photologgery.
Photologgery is a site I have created; a place where I can display the photos I have taken in all their glory. My photography skills are extremely undeveloped but practice makes perfect and all that and it would be nice to have a record of my journey from super amateur to someone who can at least hold their own in a discussion about aperture and all the other photography jargon that is currently somewhat above my station. Take a look if you want to see my creative side trying to get out...
In the meantime I am sitting in the flat, listening to the roaring winds outside. Uni was closed this afternoon and I have been reading reports of the storm-induced chaos back in GB. I guess winter has finally arrived. Fingers crossed it doesn't leave too great a mark.

Blogging along

After a slightly sagarific time, the internet has returned. We now have our own connection. It is wireless and fast so we are happy.
2007 is toddling along nicely. Plenty to do but a nice amount of time to do it in. We had a very interesting Blockseminar last weekend - it did mean having classes all day Saturday and all day Sunday, which is just wrong, but other than that fact it was rather enjoyable. The topic was the extreme right - skinheads, neo-nazis and all that jazz. It has got me thinking and perhaps given me some new inspiration in terms of my Master thesis. We shall see. Me and Ragil also did a presentation in the class and included some youtube videos - first time I have ever used youtube in a presentation but probably not the last. I have become somewhat addicted to youtube. There are some fairly fabulous videos on there.
Turning to some other new media. Me and Ragil went on a jolly to Frankfurt yesterday - we were supposed to be going to the Indonesian Consulate but turns out it was closed, so we ended up wandering around, taking lots of photographs and trying to be artsy. We're in training for our trip to Indonesia - we need to be profis in the photo-taking department so we can capture it in all it's glory. Here are a few of our photos from yesterday...

2007...

...in with a bang and a pleasant covering of champagne, thanks to SJ and her decision to spray all her guests and her front room in bubbly. As the photo shows, we did not, however, let this deter us from killing the traditional Auld Lang Syme with our out of tune, raucous tones.

This New Year thing has, as is always the case, not changed much. It was a great opportunity for a reunion of sorts with school friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in way too long, but now that it is 2007, the only real difference I can see is that I have a new diary, a new calendar and lots of scribbling outs where I keep incorrectly writing 2006.

After the champers had dried, 2007 started rather quietly. I think my body has decided that a fun resolution would be to have me struck down with the lurgy for the year - there has not been a day of 2007 when I have felt 100%, or even above 60%. Still, things to be done, books to be read, essays to be written and presentations to be prepared. There's exams coming soon too and when that's all over, if I make it through, a rather exciting trip to Indonesia.

So, despite the stuffy head, popping ears, exhausting cough and gooey nose, spirits are high and whenever morale starts to drop, the Lonely Planet to Indonesia is pulled off the bookshelf and the smiles soon return.

I hope everyone else is smiling too. If not, I suggest chocolate, or the LP to Indonesia, it works for me :D
