Rügen

A last minute decision and before I knew it I was driving a Smart car up the A20 Autobahn, Richtung Rügen. I had been wanted to pay a visit to the German island in the Baltic Sea for a while and so we took the plunge and treated ourselves to a weekend break. Beautiful beaches, forests and cliffs and a gorgeous laid-back holiday atmosphere. The perfect weekend retreat and one that we hope to return to.

ohhhhh! I really like the look of this place. Its strange to think its in Germany.

Is Ragil screaming because it's so cold? Or was the weather really warm enough to swim?

Its slightly strange seeing the ocean and the trees are not the normal salt resistant trees I am used to seeing. It still looks like forests. I will show you the trees I am talking about if you ever come down here.

Cool photos! Did changing the size help?

hihi...and we were there about three weeks earlier! How funny would it have been to meet accidently on the Binzer Strandpromenade! My friend got married on this (Germany's biggest) island. A little video is online and I hope to be able to post some more fotos soon, now that I've finished my Master Thesis! :-) If you plan to go there another time: I can recommend you a nice place to stay!
Cheers!

To Bec: I think Ragil is screaming with joy at being on the beach with blue skies all around - it was before he went in the icy cold water :)
Didn't need to change the photo size in the end, I must just have timed it badly on previous occasions because it worked fine the next time I tried.

To Marie: That would have been very weird! We stayed in a place called Sagard and there was nothing there - the hotel was nice enough though. Will take you up on your recommendation next time we go. CONGRATULATIONS on finishing your thesis!!! What have you got planned now? Back to Las Americas?

Bec: the water was bloody freezing. It was so cold i kept screaming all the time as i paddled into the sea. It was a mixed feeling between freezing and excited to finally see beaches again.. my first German's beach experience ;)

Marie: congrats! =)
